What causes inflammation? A rundown of a few major causes:
Food allergies & intolerances. Lots of people have them and don't even know it! A blood allergy test can reveal what's really going on.
Chronic infections- bacteria, yeast, parasites, viruses. Same as food allergies, sometimes people are unaware of the infection. It may be hidden or hard to diagnose. An example- gingivitis seems like no big deal, but it's a bacterial gum infection.
Mold or environmental toxins/allergens. I had a horrible reaction to mold in the HVAC system at a spa I used to work at, and it took me weeks to figure out what was wrong.
Histamine Intolerance. Read more here.
Sugar & refined flour can cause serious inflammation. No joke, they are a huge cause of premature aging as well.
Stress. Another one that seems sort of unrelated, but it's so pertinent. If you are living under constant stress, please find a way to chill the F out, stat.
Low stomach acid. Stomach acid plays a big part in nutrient absorption, and it plays goalie against pathogens like yeast, bacteria, mold, and other undesirables. Pro tip: chew your food!
There are more, of course, but it's good to think about stuff like this, and to know what to look for. This is to remind you think about what might be causing inflammation in your life. If it isn't one of these things, it may be something else. Take time to listen to your body, you probably know more than you think.
